”This band evokes the multitudes to tremendous outbursts of enthusiasm!”

This statement was made by the world famous American cornet player Wild Bill Davison, when he once played with  Trattbandet. And it has been valid all through the years since the start in 1974. The band has been received with enthusiasm at jazz clubs and festivals in Breda and Einhoven in Holland, Pori and Helsinki in Finland, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Lübeck, Bad Segeberg, the 31st International Dixieland Festival Dresden, 2001, and other places in Germany, Holland and even as far off as on Gran Canaria, and, of course, in Sweden: Askersund, Arvika, Borlänge, Gothenburg,Häggvik,Kungs- hamn, Ljungby, Ronneby, Örebro and, last but not least, at home, around Västerås. At a Jazz-band competition in Gothenburg in May 2002, Trattbandet was awarded an honorable third prize.

The band started as a New Orleans Band but has since extended to ”swing & sweet” up to the fifties. We play traditional jazz, without trying to copy any special direction; as long as we feel ”this is jazz”. ”Traditional” is often named ”Trad” and our ”Trad Band” was once by mistake (we imagine?) presented in Swedish as ”Tratt Band”, and, why not? "Tratt" in Swedish means "funnel", and the bells of the wind instruments look like funnels. Now you know!.

The Trattbandet you can listen to if you press the right button has the cornet lead played by Bo Bergendorf; and he also sings a few songs; the baritone, soprano and C-melody saxes are played by the bandleader Kaj Stridell, who also sings occasionally; the clarinet and most vocals parts are by Anders Alm. At the piano we have Bengt Arne ”Pelle” Hettman, his son Pär Hettman on drums, and on bass Peter Teglund. Former regular member Per Dywling is often performing with the band as a featured soloist.

We have now four CD:s available: Trattbandet in the Land of Jazz”,  ”Some Hot – Some Sweet”, "Trattbandet Swings That Music!" and "That´s My Home!" See below for information on contents, price and how to order.
